Cleveland Environmental Center 3500 Lorain Avenue - Cleveland, Ohio

In Recognition of the unique combination of historic preservation and sustainable design achieved in restoring the Lorain Street Savings and Trust Company building, which opened in 1918. Restoration of the 25,000 sq. ft. building entailed thorough exterior cleaning, rehabilitation and replication of historic monumental windows, and paint analysis to restore the lobby to it's original colors. Sustainable design features include a light reflective and Ohio prairie grass covered roof, photovoltaic panels for renewable energy, geothermal heating and cooling, and a high proformance-building envelope that significantly reduces energy consumption. Listed on the Ohio Register of LEED projects, the building is being submitted for LEED Certifications.
