The City of Bedford is fortunate to have a compact and pedestrian scaled downtown shopping district. Numerous historic buildings remain and are worthy of restoration. Doty & Miller worked with the City to develop street improvement strategies for the Historic Downtown, The Bedford Auto Mile, and the Northfield Industrial Corridor. The first phase of construction at the Broadway Avenue Historic District was completed in the fall of 2004. Other construction phases will follow, eventually connecting the commercial and industrial districts to major civic sites such as the Public Library, City Hall, and Bedford Medical Center.
