Avon United Methodist Church had outgrown its classroom capacity. It was also in need of a fellowship hall and the design solution provided by Doty & Miller Architects accomplished both in a multi-use addition.
The architects were asked to be creative in developing a building addition which would not only meet the functional needs of the congregation but respect the existing architectural character and design style of this colonial structure.
The addition was developed by rotating the plan at a 45 degree angle to the main church and linking it with a corridor connection past a new reception area. Classrooms were designed around a fellowship hall which had a sky lit monitor above. The splayed cathedral ceiling allows the light to filter into the interior space creating a warm and friendly interior.
