
Doty & Miller Architects was asked to provide architectural services to the North Olmsted United Methodist Church to enhance the interior fellowship hall and add classroom, office and choir space. A simple solution was achieved with an addition which blends compatibly with the existing wood shake church.
the church plan. A new configured business office, expanded classrooms and choir practice room were also included in the new addition. This was linked conveniently to an exterior door which could be monitored during the week to provide access for business and community use.
The second floor classrooms were made safer by the introduction of an interior fire stair which leads directly off the newly enlarged vestibule space. This project was also completed by RFC Contracting while the existing facility continued in use throughout the construction period.
To enhance the visibility of the sanctuary and to allow for center aisle weddings the architects reconfigured the sanctuary and opened it to the fellowship hall with a glass sound partition. This allows for expansion of the sanctuary space into the fellowship space during specific worship services. The fellowship space was enlarged and made the central gathering space in
