This home was built in 1879 by Dr. William A. Knowlton, a Captain in the Union Army during the Civil War. He was the town doctor and the front entrance opens to a waiting room and office. The fully restored Victorian "Bracketed Italianate" style was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1979. Doty and Miller Architects executed interior improvements and site planning compatible with the character of this historic home. Structural stabilization and repair was successfully completed to correct a sagging house frame and sloping floors.
