Work has recently started in cleaning the mural revealing bright colors and historic details. The restoration is being completed with the cooperation of Doty & Miller Architects, the Bedford Historical Society, and the U.S. Postal Service.

The mural was reinstalled into its original location, now the lobby of our office building, by the Intermuseum Conservation Association on August 14, 2003.

The original WPA (Work Projects Administration) era mural that decorated the lobby wall of the Bedford Post Office will soon be back in its original location. The mural titled "The Flight to Industry" was painted in 1937 by artist Karl Anderson. The mural was removed in 1998 when the Post Office was sold. Since then it has been in the hands of the Intermuseum Conservation Association, a fine art conservation and preservation company in Cleveland.
